“If HACC was not an option, then I [would] not have this opportunity to make my dream come true”

Yi, a business administration student who moved to the U.S. from China, said that their journey to HACC was a long one. Before enrolling at HACC, they took English as a Second Language (ESL) courses through the York County Literacy Council. Yi then completed the GED before enrolling at HACC to get a college education at an affordable price.

Yi said that the environment at HACC felt like it was good for learning, and that students focused not just on their classes, but also on relationships. “That’s very important to me,” they said, and added that HACC professors “teach with a passion.”

“If HACC was not an option, then I [would] not have this opportunity to make my dream come true,” Yi said. After graduating, Yi plans on transferring to a four-year school and earning a bachelor’s degree.
