HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, was established in 1964. We are the first and largest of Pennsylvania's 15 community colleges. HACC is the sole institution of its kind serving the Central Pennsylvania region.

How many students attend HACC?
HACC currently serves more than 15,350 degree-seeking students and more than 4,100 remedial and workforce development students.
Since its first commencement ceremony in 1964, HACC has welcomed thousands of students to the alumni family.

What are some unique facts about HACC?
- We have the second largest active military and veteran population among public colleges and universities in Pennsylvania.
- We train a significant number of police, firefighters, paramedics, nurses, dental hygienists and other service providers who work in our 11-county region.
- Fulbright scholars are among the faculty at HACC.
- Our students are regularly selected to participate in the Bucknell Community College Scholarship Program.

What is HACC's purpose?

Our 2019-22 Strategic Plan - One College, Uniting for Success – will guide the College in an ongoing transformation to better serve students, employees and our communities.
Does HACC have a library?
HACC has a library on each campus and online. The libraries offer:
- Access to over 160,000 print books, journals and audiovisual materials.
- Access to on-campus computers, as well as an extensive number of equipment for short-term at-home student use.
- Online resources, including 62 academic databases, over 210,000 electronic books, journals, streaming media and research guides. You can access these online resources through the library website. Librarian research and instructional support is also available to student, staff and faculty through the website and via Chat hours by clicking on the “Ask Us” link on the Library main webpage.
- Library staff expertise. HACC librarians provide one-on-one support. They do this in person and via online chat when the libraries are open. HACC librarians also teach more than 1,000 class sessions each year.
Is HACC accredited?
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education accredits HACC. The Commission granted initial accreditation in April 1967, and accreditation was last reaffirmed in 2018.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education has authorized HACC to award the associate degree. Specific programs receive national accreditation. Some programs have earned special accreditation.
What is workforce development?
HACC’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division serves businesses and individuals in the community. We provide:
- Customized training opportunities
- Hands-on learning experiences
- Networking opportunities
HACC has offered workforce development for more than 40 years. This includes non-credit training in:
- Continuing education
- Healthcare education
- Information technology and computer applications
- Leadership and management
- Public safety training to include fire training, law enforcement training and emergency medical services training
What credentials can I earn from HACC?
HACC awards:
- Associate in Arts (AA)
- Associate in Science (AS)
- Associate in Fine Arts (AFA)
- Associate in Applied Science (AAS)

HACC offers approximately 100 programs.
Will my credits transfer if I want to transfer to a four-year school after HACC?
HACC has articulation agreements with more than 69 institutions. These agreements allow students to transfer from two years at HACC to the third year at another institution.
Can I receive a reduced tuition rate if I am a Pennsylvania resident?
- Many students can receive the in-state tuition rate. You must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least one year.
- To receive a sponsored tuition rate, you must reside in one of the 22 sponsored school districts.
