Meet Josh: HACC Alumnus Prepared for His Next Steps

“HACC showed me that you can get a degree, locally and at a great cost, which can prepare you for the future in more than one way.”

Josh Duty, a HACC computer information security alumnus, graduated high school without a desire to attend college due to its high costs. However, at HACC we know college doesn’t have to be expensive. Josh also now knows “you can get a degree, locally and at a great cost, which can prepare you for the future in more than one way.”

Without HACC, Josh said that his decision to go back to school would have been much harder due to the cost and the lack of other institutions offering his desired major. HACC offers flexible class schedules, as well as online courses, which is “a huge plus” in Josh’s book. He was even able to complete most of his major online through HACC’s Virtual Learning.

While giving credit to the Yale’s and Princeton’s of higher education, Josh wants everyone to know that HACC “is a college that wants students to succeed and will go out of their way to help students do just that.”

He thanks professor Robert Spencer for providing him with a hands-on approach throughout his CNT (Computer Networking Technology) classes. At the end of the term, “we were working with physical switches and routers and creating our own networks for projects.” He added this was an excellent way to complete his final term at HACC.

Josh gained valuable hands-on experience at HACC and has accepted a full-time position in the Information Technology department of the Landis Homes Retirement Community. He also plans to “look into getting some more certifications” to help him in his career.
