Meet  Abby: Found Her True Passion at HACC

“HACC has allowed me to find my true passion in life!”

With a desire to follow in her mom’s footsteps, Abby Lundy enrolled in HACC’s Nursing Program her senior year of high school as a dual-enrolled student. However, her life changed in 2017 after being sexually assaulted. Upon returning to school, Abby said that she hated going to classes and that she didn’t have many friends. After confiding in a professor, Abby decided to change her major to social sciences.

Since changing her major, Abby became an outgoing student with many friends and a senator for the Student Government Association (SGA). She even started her own club for sexual and domestic violence, called 2nd Flight 2 Fight.

Abby credits HACC for allowing her to find her true passion in life. She said, “I’ve gone from the lowest of lows, to the highest of highs thanks to the support of people at HACC.”

Abby plans to graduate in December 2019 and transfer to Millersville University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in social work. She added, “I’m happy with HACC, and won’t be leaving until my degree is completed!” Abby would eventually like to go back to school for her master’s degree and plans to “open my own practice to provide therapy and ‘safe place’ for young adults to come and enjoy their time, feel safe, forget about their worries, and work on their wellbeing.”
